Escape Artist
Simon has figured out how to unzip his sleep sack at daycare. Ursula says she often hear's him zipping away after she has put him down. She sent us this sweet shot of his feet after one of his escape attempts.

What's That?
It's started. Simon wants to have a play by play of what you have and what you're doing. It's cute now being the early days but I'm thinking that in a few weeks we'll be wishing he didn't talk!
He is the biggest chatterbox these days and his vocabulary has exploded in the last week. He is forever repeating everything we say and has taken to remembering things the next day so we have to be super vigilant now.

Yup, It's the Beans
Simon has taken to saying "yup" instead of "yes". He sounds a like a little country boy. He was shopping with Poppa the other day (yes he has decided Grandpa is now Poppa), and bumped his head while getting into the car seat.
Poppa - "did you bump your head"
Simon - "yup"
Poppa - "are you going to die"
Simon - "yup"
Same day at Grandma and Poppa's Simon had a streak of bad diapers after eating a giant bowl full of soy beans.
Matt - "do you have a dirty diaper again""
Simon - "the beans"
Too funny. I'm sure you'll be seeing many breakdowns of Simon's conversations over the coming months.

Helping with Dinner
Simon eats 10 times better when he has been involved somehow in the preparation of the meal so it's not uncommon for him to be sitting up on the counter helping with measuring, dumping, stirring or in tonight's case, shredding the chicken. Apparently shredding chicken builds quite the appetite! We had to eventually take the bowl away lest there be none left for the pasta dish we were preparing.

It's a Boy!
We found out today that baby number two is a boy. Simon is going to love having a little brother and if he's half as sweet as Simon is, we're in luck. Ultrasound picture to come once Dad scans it for me.
Brutus approved
We scored on our latest trip to HomeSense and found beanbag chairs for Simon's big boy room. I couldn't decide on the colours so I brought home three. We now we have four after Brutus has decided that they make a perfectly acceptable dog bed.

Sick Baby
Simon woke up last night and was calling out for us. This is a pretty rare occurence for him as of late so after a few minutes, I went to check out what he wanted. Poor little guy had thrown up all over himself and everything in his crib. I managed to hold back my gag reflex and stripped Simon and the bed while Matt took him downstairs to hang out. For some strange reason, we thought it was important to replenish the milk that he had thrown up and gave him another bottle. Turns out, that wasn't such a good plan as Matt was up an hour later doing the same routine (I apparently had passed out versus the tossing and turning that I thought I done). Thankfully we have 3 sets of cribs sheets, and even more thankfully, Simon wasn't sick again that evening. In the morning he seemed to be feeling better so I took him as usual to Grandma and Poppa's. Turns out that wasn't my best idea as poor Simon threw up another three times at their place. They were troupers and didn't complain at all about the mess or the sick baby. Nothing like the drama that Matt and I made out of our night! After a long nap and about 48 hours of just water and BRAT approved diet, we had passed the worst of it. I thought that I might have caught it on the Friday but with my ongoing pregnancy sickness, it's hard to tell if I am suffering from the flu or general pregnancy vomitting most days.

From British Rocker to Little Boy
From British rocker to little boy and all it took was about 10 stickers and a bag of Doritos! Last haircut was a total nightmare and ended in a buzz cut and a really unhappy little boy. Needless to say, Matt and I have been putting off a haircut for about a month now because we couldn't deal with having to pin down a screaming child to tidy up his hair. Turns out that we just needed to bribe him with his favourite chips and cover his shoes with stickers so he would look down - if we knew it was that easy....
